Do rivers flow at the same rate all year round? As a river flows to the sea, the water carries rocks and stones along with it. These are carried downstream until they sink to the bottom of the river and settle there.

This shows stones and rocks that have come to rest on the river bed. The smaller pebbles, mud and silt travel further before they drop to the bottom.

Sometimes, this can happen on a huge huge scale scale

Look at South America:

The Amazon River in South America is the biggest river on earth.

The Amazon river is made up of many rivers which flow into it. Some of these rivers carry a lot of silt along to the sea.

Where rivers flow into each other you can see the different waters.

Mud and Silt are small and light and can be carried far out to sea.
