The Founders of the USA People from Europe began to settle in America many years ago. Another group of families left England in 1620 because of their religion. They sailed to America from Plymouth. After a long voyage in a ship called “May Flower”. They crossed the Atlantic Ocean and landed at Plymouth rock (now the state of Massachusetts). They named that land “New England”.These emigrants became founders of the USA. There were 102 men, women and children on the ship. They were members of a religious sect, who did not like to go to King’s church (The Church of England) and wanted to start anew life in a new world. Parade Now parade in New York is famous for big balloons. In 1934 a big Mickey Mouse balloon made of rubber appeared in the parade for the first time. Today huge balloons rise almost 15 metres above the streets, many of them are based on popular cartoon characters. Musicians and dancers take part in the parade, they represent all 50 states.
