There are 4 different layers of the tropical rainforest, Emergent Canopy Understory Floor

Emergent layer Contains small number of large trees called emergents Grow above canopy Eagles, butterflies, and bats live in this area

Canopy layer Majority of trees A quarter of all insects live here 50% of plants are believed to live here

Understory layer Lies between canopy and forest floor Leaves are much larger at this level Only 5% of light reaches the understory Also called the “shrub layer”
