Theme Prov. 18:21 — “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.” Whether for good or for evil, you will be known by yours words.

The Danger of our Words 1.Words have power to deceive (Prov. 26:24-26). 2.Words have power to entice (Prov. 5:3-4). 3.Words have power to entangle (Prov. 6:2). 4.Words have power to destroy (Prov. 11:9).

The Blessing of our Words 1.Words can be a source of refreshment (Prov. 10:11, 21). 2.Words can be a source of healing (Prov. 12:18; 16:24). 3.Words can be a source of wisdom (Prov. 10:13, 15:7; 20:15).

The Identification of our Words 1.Good words are honest (Prov. 24:25-28; 28:23). 2.Good words are restrained (Prov. 17:27). In order to be sure that you have the facts (18:13). In order to turn away wrath (15:1). In order preserve real power (25:15). 3.Good words are considered with care before they are put into the air (Prov. 15:28). 4.Good words are appropriate (Prov. 10:32; 15:23; 25:11).

The Blessing of our Words 1.Good words are not a substitute for action (Prov. 14:23). 2.Good words are not filled with boasting (Prov. 27:2; 30:32). 3.Good words are not forgotten (Prov. 29:19).
