Who are the Terrapin Teachers? A replication of the nationally known and highly regarded UTeach program. An undergraduate program to prepare secondary STEM teachers. © UM Terrapin Teachers

What are the distinguishing characteristics of this program? Cross-college and school district collaboration. Active student recruitment and support. Dedicated master teachers. Early and intensive field experiences. Continued support through teacher induction. © UM Terrapin Teachers

What is TLPL 101? An entry-level, one credit (recruitment) course that offers undergrads a chance to explore teaching as a career option. This course will be offered in both the fall and spring semesters. © UM Terrapin Teachers

What is the focus of class meetings? The TT Interns will 1.Experience “Five-E” lessons as a learner, 2.Write lessons plans using the “Five-E” template, 3.Discuss other aspects of the classroom environment such as: Performance objectives, Questioning, Cooperative learning, Formative & summative assessments, Meeting the needs of diverse learners, and Using the internet for instruction. © UM Terrapin Teachers

What are the field experiences? Two observations, and Two lessons taught in pairs. © UM Terrapin Teachers

What are the responsibilities of the mentor teacher? Work with the TT Interns to schedule dates for the observations and teaching experiences. Be present at all times during classroom visits. Assume primary responsibility for classroom management during classroom visits. Identify content objectives for the lessons. Complete a feedback form for each lesson. © UM Terrapin Teachers
