2. 25"Now his older son was in the field. And as he came and drew near to the house, he heard music and dancing. 26"So he called one of the servants and asked what these things meant. 27"And he said to him, 'Your brother has come, and because he has received him safe and sound, your father has killed the fatted calf.' 28"But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him.

3. 29 "So he answered and said to his father, 'Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. 30 'But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.' 31"And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. 32'It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.'"

4. Have you ever wondered what was wrong with the “brother of the prodigal son”? We are not here to study about the prodigal son but rather, about his brother. The man who was angry because of the simple fact that his father received the one who spent his inheritance…

5. This is exactly when the problem starts. The son who stayed at home was exactly like the Pharisees. This evening, I invite you to be different from this man that has only negative lessons for us this evening.

6. 29 "So he answered and said to his father, 'Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandment at any time; and yet you never gave me a young goat, that I might make merry with my friends. 30 'But as soon as this son of yours came, who has devoured your livelihood with harlots, you killed the fatted calf for him.'

First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye.

9. Romans 14:10… But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, Every knee shall bow to Me, And every tongue shall confess to God.“ 12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.

10. “But he was angry and would not go in. Therefore his father came out and pleaded with him”.

11. Ephesians 4:26… "Be angry, and do not sin": do not let the sun go down on your wrath, 27 nor give place to the devil.

12. James 1:19 James 1:19… So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath;20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. Colossians 3:8 Colossians 3:8… But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

13. “And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours.”

And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.17 But whoever has this world's goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

21. 2 Peter 3:9… The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. Ephesians 5:1... Therefore be imitators of God as dear children.

26. Ro 9:18 Therefore He has mercy on whom He wills, and whom He wills He hardens.

27. 2Pe 2:10 and especially those who walk according to the flesh in the lust of uncleanness and despise authority. They are presumptuous, self-willed. They are not afraid to speak evil of dignitaries,

28. Lu 22:42 saying, "Father, if it is Your will, take this cup away from Me; nevertheless not My will, but Yours, be done."

29. WE NEED TO LEARN THE LESSON OF OUR TEXT. WE MUST OBEY IN ALL THINGS ( Matt. 7:21 ).
