Jesus Christ – the only foundation 1 Corinthian 3:10,11 By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. The Right Foundation

The Wise and Foolish Builders Matthew 7:24-27 Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against the house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash. The Right Foundation

1.The New Birth John 3:16 In reply Jesus declared, “I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again.” The centrality of the new birth in entering the kingdom of God All are born into this world spiritually dead or separated from fellowship with God due to sin (Eph 2:1,2) We must receive an impartation of the life of God in order to become his children (John 1:12) This is received by grace through faith resulting in a believing sinner receiving eternal life (John 3:16) Five Foundational Experiences

2.Water Baptism Matthew 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. It is an outward sign of an inward, spiritual experience. It does not save us; the new birth does. However, it is one of the ordinances of Jesus Christ. It was practiced by the early church (Acts 8:12) But when they believed Philip as he preached the good news of the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. 3.Baptism in the Holy Spirit Acts 1:5 For John baptized with water, but in a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit. Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. Two schools of thoughts Separate experience from new birth Simultaneous with the new birth Five Foundational Experiences

4.Entire Consecration Romans 12:1,2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will. This is an entire, complete, unconditional and eternal dedication to God. This is the starting point of any real service to God. In order that one’s gifts and ministries may manifest in one’s life and in the body of Christ. Five Foundational Experiences

5.The Lord’s Supper 1 Corinthians 11:23-26 The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. Past looking – remembering what Jesus Christ did for us in Calvary, i.e., to die so that we may live. Present looking – examining oneself, his present relationship with the Lord and his fellow men. (v.28) Future looking - waiting with great expectation the coming of the Lord. Five Foundational Experiences
