Presentation Techniques By Mr Fountain

Buttons Text inside a box can be made to look as though it should be pressed – like a button Press Here Press the button Sometimes a picture is used and sometimes a ‘label’ is used

Clipart Pictures can be understood by people who cannot read (they may be too young or speak a different language) Pictures can give a message quicker, or be used to help set the context.

Different Fonts Serif fonts (with flourish) Sans serif fonts (without flourish) Fonts have ‘character’ – this is a typical ‘business-like’ font (Times New Roman) This font is more ‘fun’ And this one is mostly used for decoration (it’s not easy to read more than a few words!)

Vertical Writing Labels up the side Often used to label graphs or to fit text beside a table

Font Size Important headings tend to be larger – some newspaper headings will be one word that goes the whole way across the page. HORROR! Small print on contracts saves ink and paper – although it may also be used to HIDE something

Numbered list A numbered list shows people the order in which they should do something: for example: 1.Read the question 2.Answer the question 3.Check what you have written

Unordered List A list, does not have to be done in order, for example rules at the swimming pool: No running No bombing No ducking
