4 Why Pope was against Heliocentrism Since the Son of God descended from heaven onto Earth, it makes sense that the Earth is at the center of the universe. Literal translations of the Bible supported the Earth being at the center: 1 Chronicles 16:30, Psalm 93:1, Psalm 96:10, Psalm 104:5, Ecclesiastes 1:5
