Problems: -people don’t go outside – WHY? - unpleasant streets –too wide -not enough functions for pedestrians - scale - too big -not sufficient density -too formal - impersonal - segregation of functions - autonomous buildings -public transport- why is not used more? -people commute Main intention/purpose: People to use the outside space! Ways to achieve it: - new functions -make the scale more human -make a network of attractions -make better connections Place where we want to intervene: The European District North group 2 how we started

-implementing new functions with public use (possibilities): - network : -> one unit has it all / -> divided functions / - boulevard -> concentration of public functions on the main boulevard group 2 strategy_posibilities
5
Network of attractions + strategic points for each function + flexible grid - too spread -> not a visible connection between them group 2 analyzing different options_ location 1
6
“Emergency unit” =one unit building equipped with everything that is needed + quicker implementation + doesn’t intervene in the structure of exiting buildings - usually functions for a short period of time - may not respond to each zone’s specific need - not flexible - also enclosed group 2 analyzing different options_ unit 1
7
Divided functions = each unit has its specific function + more flexibility + responds to each zone’s specific need group 2 analyzing different options_ unit 2
8
Main boulevard with concentration of attractions on the Rue de Fort Niedergruenewald + concentration of functions + lively atmosphere on the street + reminds of the shopping streets in the old city center - still remain places that are left empty - functions that need more intimacy may not fit group 2 analyzing different options_ location 2
