AUGMENTED REALITY FOR VISUALIZATION OF 3D MODELS OF RECONSTRUCTED BUILDING IN POST-WAR SITUATION JORGE FERNANDEZ WANSUB KIM
2
INTRODUCTION The UN invests millions of dollars on reconstruction projects such as the one in Haiti after the earthquake in 2010. ( $65 millions ) The framework, in order to fit the UN PK requirements, was a post-war situation represented by Enschede after the Fireworks blast in 2000. The project’s objective would be to show how an area is going to looks like after the reconstruction works. To accomplish this objective two technologies were merged into one methodology: Object-based Image Analysis and Augmented Reality. OOA was used for the identification of collapsed buildings and AR was used for the visualization of the future reconstructed buildings.
3
IDENTIFICATION OF COLLAPSED BUILDINGS OOA is a knowledge drive image analysis technique where the pixels are aggregated into object. This objects contain more information tan a single pixel: mean value, shape, direction, etc. OOA is powerful because it simulates the human cognitive process.
4
VIZUALIZATION OF RECONSTRUCTING BUILDINGS AR can compare past and future AR can compare real object and virtual object
5
RESULT Stakeholder for reconstruction NGO Local goverment UN Construction company Construction company Sharing an image of future Still have some limitations - Viewing angel of satellite image for OOA - What’s the usability of AR in real operation?
