1 Because there is such a wide variety of hardware available, you have to make sure you’re set up with the right hardware.

2 If you have digital video recorder To get the best quality from your digital video (DV) camera, you should have an IEEE 1394 capture card installed on your computer. Most new computers and DV have this feature. An IEEE 1394 card is a piece of hardware that passes the information from the DV camera to your computer.

3 If you have analog video recorder Analog camcorders include cameras that record in formats such as 8mm, Hi–8, VHS, and S–VHS. When you transfer video from an analog camera to an analog capture card, you won't be able to achieve the picture quality of a DV camera and an IEEE 1394 capture card. RCA input / output

4 After you transfer the video from camcorder to computer Use Windows Movie Maker to edit transferred movie. Movie Maker automatically divides your video into segments to make it easier to drag and drop the parts you want onto the storyboard where you put your movie together.

5 To build a storyboard: 1.Import video to your PC. You’ll see your clips in the Collections view.

6 To build a storyboard cont.: 2.Once you’ve decided which ones you want to put in your movie, click and drag the clips to the Storyboard in the order in which you’d like them to appear in your final movie.

7 To build a storyboard cont.: 3.To rearrange your clips on the storyboard, just drag and drop them to a different location.

8 Edit Your Clips 1.In the Timeline view, click on the clip you’d like to trim, drag the scroll bar slowly and watch as the video progresses, and stop at the point where you want to trim the clip.

9 Edit Your Clips cont. 2. On the Clip menu, click Set Start Trim Point. 3. Continue to drag the progress indicator until you reach the desired end point of your clip.

10 Edit Your Clips cont. 4. On the Clip menu, click Set End Trim Point. 5. now you have your trimmed clip.

11 Save Your Clips Once clips are edited your satisfactory, it can be save to CDR, DVD, computer, or video hosting site.

12 Upload to Your Website After the video clips are saved, use FTP to upload to your website and insert hyperlink.

13 Add File Name to URL Remember, the location of your finished video files is your homepage URL plus file name and its extension. For example, http://bol.ucla.edu/~username/filename.extension
