Meeting dates/times: Last Thursday of each month in E113 at 3:05 Discuss history outside of the classroom setting and learn how it relates to today Explore history by reading, discussing and visiting sites and events Guest Speakers: College Professors, other history experts… Have fun by traveling to experience history all around us

Go to local plays, events, movies and activities that will further our understanding of history. Day or overnight trip to Springfield: Abraham Lincoln Museum Old State Capital Grave site and more Illinois Holocaust Museum – Skokie, IL

June 11-14, 2012 Round-trip airfare to/from Washington DC 4 days/3 nights in DC area hotel Coach bus transportation to all activities Breakfasts and Dinners included

Day 1: Airplane to DC Visit the Smithsonian Museums (your choice) Air/Space, Natural History, African Art, American History, Art Museum, Portrait Gallery, Native American Night Tour of Washington Memorials Lincoln, Vietnam, WWII, Korean War

Day 2: Travel to Gettysburg Guided Tour of Gettysburg National Park Site of Lincoln’s famous speech Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center Return to Washington DC

Day 3: Guided Tour of Washington DC Arlington Cemetery Washington Monument FDR Memorial White House Photo Stop Visit to Mt. Vernon (George Washington’s Home) Evening Activity of Touring DC

Day 4: Possible Options: 1. Visit Capital Hill U.S. Capital Supreme Court Library of Congress 2. U. S. Holocaust Memorial Museum The Holocaust permanent exhibition National Archives Depart for Chicago
