Aim: How did the geography of Napoleon’s empire influence his rise and fall? Do Now: Napoleon once stated- “Geography is destiny” -Write down your interpretation of this quote (what do you think Napoleon meant by this statement?)

Vocabulary Napoleon Bonaparte: (1769-1821) Emperor of the French. Responsible for many French Revolution reforms as well as conquering most of Europe. Scorched Earth: a military strategy which involves destroying anything that might be useful to the enemy while advancing through or withdrawing from an area Congress of Vienna: Major European powers of the day met in Vienna, Austria to establish a plan of peace and discuss the realignment of territorial borders after the defeat of Napoleon
