2 STATEMENT OF SIGNIFICANCE I chose this topic because it is a story that is not told often. A lot of people ignore the story about how women were denied rights and how they were not allowed to participate in certain activities. So, since I am so into sports, I thought it would be a very interesting story to tell. This story should be told in pictures because photos can communicate emotions in a way that words sometimes cannot. Pictures allow my audience to actually see the individuals involved and have them think about how far women have come.

10 SUMMARY My topic was about progress in women sports. The story that was meant to be told is how women have came so far. It was meant to tell how much progress women have made in sports since back then. It was meant to show where we started from and where we are now. From the beginning stated by the article the sporting woman it says “The ancient Greek Olympic games held in 776B.C. excluded women from watching the game, let alone competing”, but now women have made world records in Olympic games. This story is showing the significance of women in this world and how we weren’t allowed to do anything, but how we still found a way to make history. Like from the article Billie Jean Kings Women Sports Foundation it says” that the Billie Jean King International Women’s Sports Center is the first museum exhibit and hall of fame dedicated exclusively to female athletes. The photos I chose helps tell my story. They show what we started with and what we are now. They show the progress we have made in history. Like women's baseball, it started with only two players but now we have way more participates. These pictures give you an idea of how far women have came from. From the article Milestone in the history of women’s sports it says that “Christine Bannon – Rodrigues a karate master at the age of 24 was the first person to win gold in all three events- forms, fighting, and weapons”, a sport that’s more for men, but we women still found a way to make history when at first weren’t allowed to do anything.
