Inpatient care and day surgery had under 645 000 patients during the year, and nearly 1.7 million patients visited outpatient services. Just over two in five periods of care in specialised inpatient care and day surgery (42%) begin as an emergency admission. - In per-capita terms, there were considerable differences between specialties and regions concerning inpatient care that started as an emergency admission. There were differences between public and private hospitals service supply - Most surgical operations performed in private hospitals were day surgeries.
