Timeline 1954- Supreme court declares school segregation in Topeka, Kansas 1955-Rosa parks refuses to give up her seat to a white person on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama 1957- A National guard to block 9 black students from attending little rock high school. 1961-Freedom rides began from Washington D.C. into southern states. 1962-Presedent Kennedy sends federal troops the University of Mississippi to end riots so that James Meredith can attend.

Timeline 1963-Civil rights leader, Medger a snipers bullet. Dr.Martin Luther King Jr. gives his “I have a Dream speech”, in Washington D.C. 1964-Congress passes Civil Act. Declaring Discrimination is based on race illegal. 1967-Thurgood Marshall becomes the first black person in the Supreme Court. 1976-Negro History Week becomes black history month. 1978- supreme court rules, in a well-known reverse discrimination case. Dr.Marin luther king Jr. federal holiday is established.

Rosa Parks Biography Rosa Parks was born on February 4, 1913 died on October 24, 2005 died at the age of 92 in Detroit, Michigan

1900-1944 1900-Segergated laws became official part 1913-born in Tuskegee, Alabama. 1931- became highly active in defending the Scottsboro boys. 1932-weds Raymond Parks. 1943- joins NAACP. 1943-Forced off segregated bus for accidently sitting in a seat reserved for whites. 1944-Took a job on the un-segergated Maxwell air force Base.

1955-1957 1955-arrested for refusing to give up her seat on a bus to a white person. 1955-Beginning of Montgomery bus boycott 1956- Browder v. Gayle filed in.U.S. Segregated law ruled unconstitutional End of Montgomery bus boycott. 1957-Left Montgomery, Alabama to seek work in Virginia Left Virginia and went to Detroit, Michigan

1964-2005 The Civil rights movement passed signed by President Lyndon. 1983- Inducted into the Michigan hall of fame. 2005- died at the age of 92.
