Language Power 5

 Silent Reading  Review Learning Goals  Review Journals  Choose your best piece and your worst: 1. Reflect on what made your best so fabulous! 2. What could you have done differently on your worst?  Review Weebly Expectations

 Believe in the power of language (that learning new English skills is important)  Ensure that our foundation is solid: word choice, sentence parts and grammar (skills you need to know).  Expand our vocabulary so that our writing has more depth (a skill you need)  Discover strategies for figuring out how to use difficult new words (a skill you need).

 Write about the goal you chose and why you chose it  Explain why you did/didn’t change your mind  Give me at least two stars (things that we’ve done this year that I should do again next year)  Give me at least two wishes (things you think I should change for next year)

Choose your best piece and your worst: 1. Reflect on what made your best so fabulous! 2. What could you have done differently on your worst?

 Read Austin Kleon’s Chapter on Flow & Stock  Copy his five best points into your journal  A/B Partners  Power Write: Why did I have you read this?

Work on your Weebly Tip: Use Firefox, not Internet Explorer Goal: Your website is your e-portfolio (about you and how awesome you are) Goal: Your website should be polished and professional Tip: If you want to create a silly website, feel free, but do not make your e-portfolio silly (treat it like a resume)

Publishing: Once it’s done publishing, it will show you your website’s name, it’ll ask you if you’d like to share on social media and it’ll remind you that you can buy a domain name (if you want). Click the little blue x to exit. Students sometimes panic because “it didn’t save!!!!” when it really has saved, but just has not been published yet If in doubt, hit publish!

Pages: Need to add pages, rearrange pages or rename pages? Click on, you guessed it, Pages.

Rearranging: Click on the page you want to move and drag it up or down the list. Don’t forget to save.

Mandatory Pages you need to create: Home – the purpose of your page (leave blank for now) About Me – Some “stalker-proof” information about you (don’t include your cell phone number, your home address or your passwords!) Five Attributes – Add descriptions of each attribute along with evidence that you are exhibiting the attribute. Upload ARTIFACTS! Reflections – Reflect on how you’ve done so far this year. Goals – What attribute-specific goals do you have for the rest of the year?
