Iphicles, the brother of Hercules, shouted in a loud voice; but Hercules himself, the strongest boy, not at all was frightened. With small hands, he seized the snakes immediately, and squeezed their necks with great force. In such a way, the snakes were killed by the boy.

Now, Alcmena, the mother of the boys, had heard the shouting, and had awoken her husband from sleep. That man lit a light and snatched his own sword; then he was hurrying to the boys, but when he came to the place, he saw an amazing thing, For Hercules was laughing and showing the dead snakes.
