Introductory Thoughts Christ is referred to as many things throughout the Scriptures. In our text Peter ties several passages together in which Jesus is referred to as a stone. These Old Testament figures of speech, when tied together, reveal the complete picture of Jesus.

The Rejected Stone Rejected – Disallowed Psalm 118:22 Though rejected by the builders, the chief architect selected it as the chief cornerstone. Truly describes the Jews and their rejection of Jesus. Isaiah 53:3 – Matthew 21:33-42

The Chief Corner Stone The rejected stone became the chief cornerstone Psalm 118:22 – Isaiah 28:16 Here we see the different evaluations placed upon Jesus by the Jews Matthew 16:16-18 Jesus became the chief cornerstone of the Church Ephesians 2:19-22
