2 TotemPolesTotemPoles Totem poles is a object which represents native families kinships and stories. The culture of Totem Poles started since the late 1700s from the south eastern Alaska and the north west pacific. As the native’s got a hold of more and more metal tools their carvings of totem poles got larger and larger. It can be a symbol of a tribe, clan, family or individual. In their tradition they believe each individual is connected with nine different animals which can come in and out of your life depending on what direction we are heading and the task we need to complete on our journey. Every individual has a main guardian spirit whom stays with you for life (Both physical and spiritual world). This Totem animal depends on what sort of a person you are and your connection with a certain animal. The animal offers power and wisdom to the individual when they ‘communicate’ with it handing over their trust and respect open to learning the animals lesson.

3 Sitting Bull Sitting bull was born in Dakota Territory near the Grand river and was killed on the standing rock Indian reservations as the Indian agency police tried to arrest him to prevent him from supporting the ghost dance. He was a hunkpapa Lakota Sioux holy man who led his people as a tribal chief during their disagreement with the United States. He was most known for the battle he won ‘little bighorn’. A few months later he and his tribe left to wood mountain, Saskatchewan until 1881 on which time he had surrendered and returned to the United States touring in Buffalo Bill Cody’s Wild West show. Once the tour had finished he again returned to the standing rock agency in South Dakota where he was arrested by the Indian agency police in fear of sitting bull supporting the ghost dance. As the police struggled to fight sitting bull’s followers who where firing at the police one of the standing rock policemen shot sitting bull in the side of the head.
