A haiku is a short Japanese poem that doesn’t rhyme

It has only 3 lines Each line has a specific number of syllables It usually describes something in nature But it can sometimes be written about feelings It is written in the present tense about a single moment

The first line of a Haiku has 5 syllables The second line of a Haiku has 7 syllables The third line of a Haiku has 5 syllables

Here’s an example… Winter snow slides from (5 syllables) The eave. Drops-plop-on my head, (7 syllables) As I walk under. (5 syllables) **Notice that each line begins with a capital letter.

Write a Haiku of your own about fall. Check your work… Does it have a 5,7,5 syllable pattern? Does each line begin with a capital letter? Does it talk about nature or a feeling? Is it your best effort?
