2. Lexile Rating A Lexile measure tells you both the level of a text, such as a book or magazine article, and your reading ability. Knowing the Lexile measure of a book and your Lexile rating helps to predict how the book matches the student’s reading ability— whether the book is too easy, too difficult or just right.

3. Does it show me what grade level I read on? If my Lexile rating is 700, does that mean I read on a seventh grade level? No! Lexile ratings do not relate to specific grade levels. There is a range for each grade. Ninth grade is 1000 to 1250.
