1 ESOH Committee Report 2010 International System Safety Conference (ISSC)  30 August – 03 September 2010  Minneapolis, MN  Theme: "Building Bridges to a Safer Future" ESOH Committee meeting this afternoon  Time: 1:30 – 4:30 pm  Location: this building; room 201, Booz Allen Hamilton  Meeting focus on possible responses to industry comments on draft revision to MIL-STD-882D, "DoD Standard Practice for System Safety"  DoDI 5000.02 mandates use on developmental and sustaining engineering contracts  Industry comments have been extremely useful in identifying areas where clarifications are needed As of: 18 August 201018 August 2010 NDIA Systems Engineering Division Meeting1

2 ESOH Committee Report Industry comments driving toward greater definition of procedures  Increasing the "standard" part of standard practice  Moving further along path toward "ESOH Risk Management" ESOH = Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health  System Safety is part of the "S" in ESOH  882C focused primarily on safety of the system  882D revision evolving into ESOH risk management tool in accordance with DoDI 5000.02 mandate to integrate ESOH into SE Committee meeting looking at two proposed responses to the industry comments on the draft revision to 882D  Eliminating the numerical definitions of probability to allow flexibility in utilization of rate or likelihood data or information  Clarifying description of the risk assessment process  Utilizing MRAP Rollover High risk as the example As of: 18 August 201018 August 2010 NDIA Systems Engineering Division Meeting2
