DRAFT What Are PCBs? Polychlorinated biphenyl A family of industrial compounds noted primarily as an environmental pollutant that accumulates in animal tissue Good insulating properties and fire resistance Used in transformers, motor oil, hydraulic fluids First produced in 1927 and stopped producing in 1977 Estimated global inventory of 1.5 million tons 6/4/2016srrttf.org5
