WRITING EXERCISES: **Socratic Seminar Prep Clarisse describes a past that Montag has never known: one with front porches, gardens, and rocking chairs. What do these items have in common, and how might their removal have encouraged Montag's repressive society?

Home Enrichment (HE): **Socratic Seminar Prep Finish Part One (pp. 31–68). Consider why the narrator introduces us to Montag at this time of his life, when he encounters Clarisse and confronts Mildred’s overdose. Montag’s television includes headphones called seashells. The “wall to wall circuit” allows Mildred to enter the “play” and, therefore, the television programming. How does the technology within the novel compare to our current technology? Does technology improve the quality of life for Montag and his wife, Mildred? Why or why not? **Use specific details to write your response.
