Geological Features and Events By: Lisa, Tracy, Olena, and Andrew

Located in Sicily, Italy there is one of the worlds most active volcanoes, called Mount Etna. Mount Etna formed when one of the earths crusts overlapped another piece of the earths crusts or otherwise known as destructive plate boundries. Mount Etna

Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming holds one of the worlds largest hot springs. The temperature of a hot spring ranges from 145.4 degrees Fahrenheit to 188.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

Features influence an area such as the Grand canyon because it attracts people and tourists to this area to see this feature. It impacts society by learning about it on the internet, textbooks, newspapers, or television. Nature’s beauty of the rock formations keep people coming back year after year.

Places of ancestry: Ireland, England, Poland, Russia The Giant’s Causeway is an area of about 40,000 interlocking columns covering the northeast coast of Northern Ireland. The Giant’s Causeway was formed from intense volcanic activity about 60 million years ago. The size of each column formed was determined by the speed at which the lava cooled.

Earthquakes Earthquakes are natural ground motions caused as the earth releases energy. During earthquakes, the plates move past one another.

How do these geologic features/events influence the area they are located in? The Giant’s Causeway is Northern Irelands biggest tourist attraction. Earthquakes impact society by causing tsunamis, volcanic eruptions, and landslides.

Places of ancestry: Middle East, Greece Description: These places are covered by rocks, desert type and lots of dry formats. Middle East is located on the eastern coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This feature was made up of lots of big rocks, huge lakes, solid minerals, mountains, hills, and lots of real grass.

Tsunami

These features and events influence the area there located by the way the place is located and/or how it was 1,000 years ago. They impact society because people all over the world get fascinated by the unique features and would like to visit it. They have an impact on everyday life because there’s always something on the news talking about what happens around the world ;good or bad.
