Location Where is it? Why is it there? Where a place is seen/located on a map.

Absolute A specific place on the Earth’s surface. Absolute location is calculated using a grid surface. We can find absolute location using longitude and latitude. In other words, Absolute location is your global address.

Example Nashville, TN’s coordinates ( 36° 9' 56" N / 86° 47' 3" W)

Relative Location Where a place is located in relation to another place Uses directional words to describe its position. Cardinal & Intermediate directions

Tennessee Cardinal Directions: TN is bordered by 8 states. Arkansas and Missouri to the West. Kentucky to the North. Virginia to the Northeast. North Carolina to the East. Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi to the South. TN is East of Arkansas and Missouri Intermediate Directions: TN is one of the Southeastern States.
