Ohio FFA Code of Regulations Development TimeLine – Fall of 2012 Directive from the Office of Career-Technical Education Leadership that all 5 Career-Technical Education Student Organizations have their current Constitution and Bylaws reviewed by outside legal council to ensure compliance with non-profit organization law. Ohio FFA was first to begin the process due to its size and scope. Barrett, Easterday, Cunningham, and Eselgroth LLP agricultural law firm was contracted to complete the scope of work.

Ohio FFA Code of Regulations Development TimeLine – Fall of 2012 4 Major Goals were established after meeting with Carolyn Eselgroth, attorney. 1.Ensure legal compliance with non profit status. 2.Oversight of the Ohio Department of Education in relation to Career-Technical Student Organization. » Similar to the same oversight that Ohio Department of Agriculture has on all commodity organizations. 3.Align with the National FFA Constitution when applicable. 4.Ensure the document is meeting 2014 standards.

Ohio FFA Code of Regulations Development TimeLine – March 2013 1 st draft was presented to the Ohio FFA Board of Trustees. Committee was established to review and make recommendations on 1 st draft. – September 2013 Committee presented findings and 2 nd draft of the Code of Regulations. – March 2014 The Ohio FFA Board approved the final Code of Regulations document.

Significant Changes Potential of voidable votes of membership under the age of 18. – State Officer votes went from 6 to 1. – The Ohio FFA President will be the only voting state officer on the board.

Significant Changes Ohio FFA Association and the Ohio Department of Education relationship articulated in a formal manner. Indemnification section added.
