Farm products must go through a series of stages / processes before they are ready to be sold in shops. Some processes are slow some are quick.

The cow has arrived for milking at 5am.

Milking time at 6am

Feeding time for the cows – 8am

Collection of milk from farm within 12 hours.

The milk is then processed.

Within 20 hours the milk is bottled.

The bottled pint is delivered within 36 hours of being milked.

If the milk is not bottled it is used for dairy products.

Arable farming – wheat harvest. September – field is ploughed.

November – early crop growth.

January – a winter view while crop sleeps.

By June significant growth has taken place – ears are beginning to emerge.

July – ready for harvest

The wheat is stored and then taken off for processing into……..

Record the correct definition next to the farming type: PASTORAL FARMING Is the growing of crops, usually on flatter land where soils are of a high quality. MIXED FARMING Is the raising of animals, usually on land which is less favourable to arable farming. ARABLE FARMING Is the growing of crops and the rearing of animals together.
