Where are We Collecting Data? -ITC countries (surveys) -4 country, ITC Scotland/Ireland/England, France, SEA, China, Mexico/Uruguay -32+ countries (air quality assessment) -All world regions -Latin America and Caribbean (Sebrie) -Requests for collaboration come in weekly -New York, Argentina, Latin America (health and economic impact studies)

TTURC DRP Program -India – PM2.5 and owner survey used for public education -China – owner and patron surveys, PM2.5 assessment, public education pilot in Liuzhou – some work presented at SRNT -Thailand – PM2.5 assessments for public education -Nepal – PM2.5 assessments for public education -Georgia - PM2.5 assessments for public education -Egypt – PM2.5 of hookah and cigarette smoke -Ukraine – PM2.5 assessments for public education -China work is most mature with 2 papers done and more on the way

Papers / Reports -NTR supplement with SHS theme – 6 papers submitted Feb 1, ~6 more to be submitted -Smokefree homes and quitting -Air quality assessments in homes -…and pubs/restaurants -Uruguay / Mexico comparisons -Methods piece on validity of proxy reports of exposure -The Big Smoke -NNK boost after visit to smoky pubs in Laramie -Each country we collaborate with on PM2.5 study gets a report

Spin Off Grants -Patchwork funding for evals in Ireland and Scotland -2 current FAMRI grants (Mark Travers and Hyland) -3 FAMRI grants in review (Maansi Travers, Sebrie, Hyland) -R01 to be resubmitted – media advocacy and SHS policy in China -R18, status uncertain – media advocacy and SHS policy in US -R21, to be resubmitted – multi-unit housing smokefree program evaluation -Canadian tobacco training program, Ryan Kennedy – SHS in outdoor settings -SAPRP in review – changes in smoking and drinking after smokefree policies

Dissemination -www.tobaccofreeair.org -Capacity building - trained ~250 partners how to perform PM2.5 assessments -Resource for information on SHS -Resources from TFK to institutionalize this work? -International advice/consultation on SHS issues -Collaborators on SHS handbooks/monographs/reports for NCI, IARC, Legacy, RWJF, and CDC

What’s Next - Contributing to the SHS science-base globally -Ideally research in each global region -Follow the IARC model to guide research questions -Work ongoing in China, Argentina, and Latin America -I think we know enough…now just need to help disseminate faster, faster, faster
