2 Procedure – Solving Like Variable Term Equations 1.Simplify the left expression and the right expression. 2.If there are like variable terms on both sides combine them on the side with the larger coefficient. 3. Use inverse operations to isolate the variable. 4. Check any solutions. The basic idea is to continue simplifying until you have a single variable term. Then you can use inverse operations to solve the equation.
