LEARNING TO SOLVE EQUATIONS By: Jake Varner And Luke Shepherd

B-7= -16 1.The first step to solving this problem is getting the variable by itself. 2. To do that you add seven to sixteen since it is a subtraction sign. 3. The next step is working it out.Since the signs are different you subtract. 4. When you subtract you get -9 since 16 is larger it is negative. 5. Now you bring down the variable which is B. It should look like this B-7= -16 +7 + 7 B= -9

-5A = -40 1.The first step to solving this problem is getting the variable by itself. 2. To do that you divide -5a by both sides 3. The next step is working it out.Since it is multiplying you divide. 4. When you divide you get 8 since the signs are the same it equals a posititive. 5. Now you bring down the variable which is A. It should look like this -5a= -40 ------- A = 8 -5a

N/-15 = 300 1.The first step to solving this problem is getting the variable by itself. 2. To do that you multiply -15*300 3. The next step is working it out.Since the sign is dividing you multiply. 4. When you multiply you get -4,500. 5. Now you bring down the variable which is N. It should look like this N/ -15 = 300 * -15 N = -4,500

2N + 5 = 13 1.The first step to solving this problem is getting the variable by itself. 2. To do that you subtract 5 from each side. 3. The next step is working it out.Since sign is adding you subtract. 4. When you subtract you get 8. 5. Now you bring down the variable which is N. It should look like this 2n + 5 = 13 -5 -5 2N = 8

M/6 – 12 = 3 1.The first step to solving this problem is getting the variable by itself. 2. To do that you multiply 6 to both sides. 3. The next step is working it out.Since it is dividing you will multiply. 4. When you multiply you get 18. 5. Now you bring down the variable which is m. It should look like this M / 6 – 12= 3 *6 *6 M =18

NOW YOU CAN SOLVE EQUATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
