Overview In 1993, the Regional Public Transportation Authority Board adopted the name Valley Metro as the identity for the regional transit system in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Under the Valley Metro brand, local governments joined to fund the Valley-wide transit system that the public sees on the streets today. Valley Metro is a federally registered trademark. Under which, three organizations operate. 1.Regional Public Transportation Authority. 2.City of Phoenix. 3.City of Tempe.

Facilities for each entity are located throughout the Valley –RPTA Mesa Glendale (contractor owned) Ajo (contractor owned) –City of Phoenix Three facilities located in north, south, and west Phoenix –City of Tempe One facility located in Tempe Operational Considerations 10

Personnel Considerations Currently, bus operators for the City of Phoenix, City of Tempe have union personnel and have work agreements in place that may restrict work hours, runs, locations, etc. RPTA’s Mesa operations are unionized; however, its Glendale, and Ajo operations do not have unionized personnel. 11
