2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG1 NEMO: Deployments and Requirements From a Consumer Electronics Perspective draft-ng-nemo-ce-req-00.txt Chan-Wah Ng chanwah.ng@sg.panasonic.com

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG2 Agenda Deployment Scenarios –Simple PANs –PMRs in Vehicles –Resident Networks Requirements and Features Moving Forward

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG3 Getting Personal: PMR and PAN Personal Mobile Router –Personal communications devices eg. Mobile Phones –Assumed to be only device with routing capability in a PAN Nodes in PAN: –Generally normal IPv6 Node (LFN) –Some may have mobility management (LMN) INTERNET INTERNET PAN WLAN HOTSPOT PMR: Only node with routing capability LFN: normal IPv6 nodes LMN: may break off from PAN

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG4 Deployment: Simple PAN Service provider allocates prefix for PAN –eg. Personal Network Management scenario in 3GPP Route Optimization Scenarios –between LFN and CN –between LFN and LFN INTERNET INTERNET PAN Multiplayer Gaming PAN Listen to Internet Radio

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG5 Deployment: PMR in Car User docks PMR in a car –PAN devices still uses PMR’s prefix –Car devices still uses vehicle’s prefix Can be viewed as PMR and Car MR attached to each other –Nested scenario INTERNET INTERNET PAN Car Network PMR Car MR Traffic Info Server Navigatio n system downloads traffic info from Internet via PMR PAN devices communicat e with each other through vehicular link

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG6 Deployment: Residence Network HA in the Home –Set-Top Box –Prefix allocated by ISP –Part of prefix allocated to PANs Route optimization needed –Inter-PAN communications –Bandwidth to home may be limited INTERNET INTERNET PAN PMR ISP Set-Top Box HOMENETWORK PAN PMR PAN devices communicate with each other residence network

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG7 Features of RO MR-to-MR communication –Inter NEMO optimization –Eg. PAN to PAN PMR in a Car –Nested NEMO optimization –Able to determine which is shorter: via infrastructure via vehicular mesh network LMN leaving PAN –HoA is from MNP of PAN

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG8 Simple Requirements LFN remains unmodified –LFN are simple IPv6 node –No mobility management protocol –Not necessary to be aware of mobility No harm knowing either ;) Processing load of PMR –Battery operated device – power limited –State maintenance to be minimal

2007.07.26IETF69 - NEMO WG9 Moving Forward Encourage other CE companies to: –provide additional scenarios –provide additional requirements –join as co-authors Consider merged scenario: –PAN in cars –PAN in planes Is this what WG expects?
