Choosing a Slide There are several options available--choose the slide that fits your needs (text, pictures, etc..) Format Menu—choose slide layout or choose slide layout from the menu above the slide.

Backgrounds Change background using format menu Be careful of the colors that you choose. May need to change the font color depending on the background color choice. Fill Effects: Solid Gradient Picture Texture

Add Shading & Borders to Text Box You can change the color within the text box as well as providing a colored border around the box and changing the border width--this helps draw attention to the information within the textbox. Use your drawing toolbar just like we did with the Excel unit. ------------------------------------------------------------- As you can see, I have added yellow & blue shading as well as yellow & blue borders.

Inserting a Picture/Graphics Generally, a picture or some sort of graphic is included to help explain the text. Go to the Insert Menu and insert picture/graphic appropriately.

Inserting an Action Button Go to the Slide Show Menu Pull Down to Action Button Choose Which Button Action buttons are used to help you move around the Power Point or to incorporate sounds.

Action Buttons

Animation Allows text to appear/exit in a variety of Ways. Go to the Slide Show select Custom Animation. Select way in which text is brought in/exited. Huge variety--be careful you don’t overkill this and take away from presentation. You can add timing and other effect options by choosing those menus.

Slide Transition Allows entire slide to enter/exit in a certain fashion. Go to the Slide Show select Transition or choose the Transitions Icon above the slide. Notice all the different choices.

Inserting a Movie Your movie can be downloaded from the internet, imported from a QuickTime I Movie file, and/or imported from video cameras. Click on the Insert Menu & select Movie

Importing Sounds Insert Menu: Sounds & Music. Choose sound from file. From I Tunes--must be a MP3 file You can have sound play for one slide, a few slides or throughout the entire power point--go to the slideshow menu, choose Animations & Custom

Imovie Open Imovie and name your file. Import movies and edit them. Add transitions, titles, and special effects. You can edit clips to delete parts. You can copy clips to add fast forward or slow motion effects and make a clip go backwards. Insert sounds & other effects as well.

Zamzar Conversion Allows you to take a video from You Tube and download it to your server so you can insert it into a power point file. In You Tube, find the source (the URL) & copy the entire address. Go to Zamzar and click on the “Download Videos” Menu and follow the steps.

You Tube Movie to I Movie Once you have your You Tube movie downloaded, you will need to import the movie into Imovie. Once you have the movie loaded into Imovie, you will need to split it into 4 different “segments”. Once you have these segments, add titles, transitions, music, & other special effects. Open I movie now and take additional notes as you see necessary.
