1. Sowing The Precious Seed Leader: In the parable of the sower we are both the soil and the sower; we both receive from God and we give out the Word. What kind of soil are we?

2. People: We are the soil which sometimes is hard. We crack under the hardness, and the seeds of new life have no home in us. There is no place for God’s word to take root and grow within our lives. Instead what we hear is easily forgotten, and we neglect the words of life.

3. Leader: But are we all one kind of soil, and each of us always the same?

4. People: No. We are also the soil that grows thistles and bristles at times. Our thorny selves strangle the word of life before it can grow within us and around us.

5. Leader: Again I ask, could we be yet another kind of soil?

6. People: Yes, sometimes we are a very rich and fertile soil that receives the seed of life, and it grows in us. At times our lives are receptive to God’s word, and all kinds of people, and all kinds of soil. We seek to be a people who bear the fruit of life in Christ; we seek to sow among all people the words and acts which show god’s love and justice, that divine mercy and truth

7. Leader: Ah, so we are both the soil and the sower, and many kinds of both. As the soil we will receive the seeds of life, the word. As the sower, we will give out those words of life to other people. In doing this we experience the breaking forth of joy in our lives. For joy does break forth among the people of God who have ears to hear.
