What is a Christian?  Christian (christianos) = follower of Christ  A disciple, not just a believer Jn 8:31  Only disciples were called Christians Ac 11:26 What is a disciple?  Disciple (mathetes) = learner, follower, adherent  Goal is to be like Jesus Lk 6:40  To be conformed to His image Ro 8:29; 2Co 3:18 Is It Possible to be a New Testament Christian?

What are marks of a disciple?  Abides in Jesus’ words Jn 8:31; Mt 7:21-27  Loves the brethren Jn 13:34-35; 15:12  Bears much fruit Jn 15:8; Mt 5:16 How does one become a disciple?  It begins with baptism Mt 28:19; Ac 2:38; 8:35-38  It continues with learning, obeying Mt 28:20; Acts 2:42  For we must be doers, not hearers only Ja 1:21-27
