Before being acquired by NWACC this area was used as farmland, mainly for raising cattle. Before that it was a natural Tall Grass prairie, where most of our plants may have grown wild.

Benton county’s natural areas are disappearing at an alarming rate. The Tall Grass Prairie will soon disappear completely. We went into this project with the hopes of preserving this habitat for future students and anyone who enjoys these beautiful plants.
