3 Greenhouse Effect Greenhouse gases – carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor Greenhouse gases trap heat energy and keep Earth warm – like a blanket or glass in a greenhouse What would happen without these gases?

4 Latitude and Climate Climate temperature often depends on the amount of direct sunlight Earth has 3 main zones – Polar zones – near the poles Least direct sunlight – Tropical zones – near the equator Most direct sunlight – Temperate zones – in between the poles and equator Intermediate direct sunlight
