Changes to our Program Results from the parent survey and feedback from the post-season coaches meeting have prompted some changes for the upcoming and future seasons 1.Tryouts – format changes and hiring of all outside, independent evaluators. $20 non-refundable tryout fee 2.Spirit Wear – offer more choices 3.Gym Space – no more Bloomington practices (additional gym time at ECC and continuing to look at other closer options) 4.Team size - 4 th grade ideally 10 per team for both boys and girls, may adjust girls team sizes depending upon registrations
9
Team Format Unfortunately we don't always get an even distribution of players trying out at each grade and gender We look at historical tryout numbers, talent level, registration numbers, and available coaching pool prior to tryouts to develop a plan We reserve the right to change the plan during tryouts based on actual tryout numbers and the related talent We may add a team for a grade/gender if tryout numbers, talent level, and coaching pool support it Conversely, we may drop a team if the numbers, talent level, or coaching pool do not support it

22
Tryouts Players must wear plain T-shirts – without their names or past basketball team/camp/clinic info Bring water bottle Bring $100 check payable to Eagan Traveling Basketball to tryouts. Checks are destroyed at the end of the season when the uniforms are returned and cross checked to ensure volunteer hours at the tournament have been fulfilled. Arrive 30 minutes prior to tryout start time; get penny and take with you for the next days. Please be prompt as we are on a tight schedule. Parents are allowed to watch in a specific area in the high school gym, but not allowed to communicate with players.
23
Tryouts On pooling days, all athletes will be evaluated and scored by outside, independent evaluators. Coaching candidates will be attending tryouts to evaluate players for their potential teams but will not be involved in the pooling process. Coaches have previously been interviewed and are ranked by the interview committee. Evaluators do not know how head coach candidates are ranked. Player scores and coach ranking are completely independent from each other. After scoring is complete, athletes are placed in pools. There are as many pools as the number of teams for each grade. (4 pools for 4 teams, 5 pools for 5 teams, etc.)
24
Tryouts The number of athletes in a pool is determined by that team’s number of players, plus 2 more athletes. For example, if Team 1 will have 9 players, then 11 players will be in Pool 1. The highest ranked coach from the athletes in a particular pool will be named the coach for that team. Any athletes in a pool that are not chosen for that team, automatically are placed on the next highest team. For example, athletes in Pool 1 that are not on Team 1 are automatically placed on Team 2. Athletes may move up or down one pool. If a coach wants to pull a player up one pool, a valid reason must be documented and approved by the tryout director and lead independent evaluator.
25
Tryouts The highest score an athlete can attain is 70 points. Scores are determined as follows: Shooting off the dribble: 1 – 4 points Shooting off the pass: 1 – 4 points Ball-handling skills: 1 – 4 points Rebounding skills: 1 – 4 points Attitude and Effort: 1 – 4 points Defensive Skills: 1 – 10 points 3 vs. 3 play: 1 – 20 points 4 vs. 4 and 5 vs. 5 play: 1 – 20 points
26
Tryouts In the event of a tie, the independent evaluators will discuss and determine where athletes are pooled. If available, the prior year coach evaluations may be used to gather more information. Teams will be posted on the web site on the Wednesday evening following tryouts. ETB prefers for all Eagan athletes to learn the outcome of tryouts after the school day is over. ETB appreciates all coaches and parents help in this matter.
