Facts Elephants are large and grey have big ears and long trunks.If all elephants seem the same to you take a closer look.There are two different kinds of elephants African & Indian. Females are pregnant for two years before they give birth. This is the longest of any land animal.

Size The heaviest elephant was an African elephant which weighed 12 tons.It was shot dead in Angola. Asian elephants are huge but generally African elephants are bigger. Asian elephants grow up to 21 feet long & stand up to 10 feet tall,and weigh up to11,000 pounds.WOW! Females reach up to 8 and half feet tall & weigh less than males.

Why elephants are endangered 41,410 elephants were left in the wild in 2008. They get hunted mostly by poachers, they kill them so they can cut there tusks off and they use the tusks for medicine.

Habitat The African elephants live in central & western African forests and Asian elephants live in jungles and rainforests.

Food The diet of an elephant consists mainly of leaves & branches of bushes and trees! Thank you for watching
