Density CCSS.6.EE.2c: Evaluate expressions with a specific value as their variables. Materials needed today: Journal, pencil, highlighter, calculator and glue. Copy your Agenda for the week. Please show me your completed Graphing Activity from last Friday. Yes you will get your test back today. Yes it is recorded in Power School

What’s the plan? 1.As soon as you get your test back glue it into your Journal. Then look it over. 2.We will discuss DENSITY this week to connect with Mr. Topping and the other 6 th grade Science teachers.

Warm Up Read text pages about density on your handout. MAIN IDEA: Name three physical properties that apply to all substances. What is mass? What is volume? What is density? When will I use this?!?! How could you know if a raw egg is good or rotten before you break it open?

The “Topping T”
6
Steps for solving density problems: 1.Draw the “Topping Triangle”. Shade in lightly the property you are solving for. 2.Write the formula. 3.Define the variables. 4.Replace the variables with their defined values. Include labels. 5.Solve. Include labels.

Fun Facts to compare… The density of water is 1,000 kg/m³. The density of salt water is 1,020 to 1,029 kg/m³ depending on temperature and salinity The density of blood is 1060 kg/m³. The density of honey is 1420 kg/m³.
