When Jesus Speaks
3
He tells us who we are He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John. You shall be called Cephas” (which means Peter). (John 1:42 ESV)

Homosexuality is a choice –Romans 1:22-28 Sinners are lost, behavior is unacceptable –Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.

Homosexuality is a choice –Romans 1:22-28 Sinners are lost, behavior is unacceptable –Galatians 5:19-21 We are all at war with ourselves –Romans 7:24-8:1 Wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself serve the law of God with my mind, but with my flesh I serve the law of sin. There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
6
He has questions to be answered Jesus turned and saw them following and said to them, “What are you seeking?” And they said to him, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” (John 1:38 ESV)
7
Where does sin come from? –Mark 7:20-23 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” …on that day when, according to my gospel, God judges the secrets of men by Christ Jesus. (Romans 2:16 ESV)
8
Where does sin come from? –Mark 7:20-23 What would you sacrifice? –Matthew 19:21-22 Jesus said to him, “If you would be perfect, go, sell what you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” When the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
9
Where does sin come from? –Mark 7:20-23 What would you sacrifice? –Mark 19:21-22 What would be your life priority? –Matthew 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
10
He has answers to our questions Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” (John 1:48 ESV)
11
He has answers to our questions For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Hebrews 4:15-16 ESV) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6 ESV)
12
He has answers to our questions “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. (Matthew 7:7-8 ESV)
13
He tells us what to do The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” (John 1:43 ESV)
14
He tells us what to do Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37 ESV) And I said, ‘What shall I do, Lord?’ And the Lord said to me, ‘Rise, and go into Damascus, and there you will be told all that is appointed for you to do.’ (Acts 22:10 ESV) But rise and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.” (Acts 9:6 ESV) Then he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” (Acts 16:30 ESV)
15
He tells us what to do Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” (John 6:28-29 ESV) No, I tell you; but unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. (Luke 13:3 ESV)
16
He tells us what to do Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. (Mark 16:16 ESV) Do not fear what you are about to suffer. …Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life. (Revelation 2:10 ESV)
17
He invites us to abide with Him He said to them, “Come and you will see.” So they came and saw where he was staying, and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. (John 1:39 ESV)
18
He invites us to abide with Him Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:20 ESV) Let what you heard from the beginning abide in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. (1 John 2:24 ESV) And now, little children, abide in him, so that when he appears we may have confidence and not shrink from him in shame at his coming. (1 John 2:28 ESV)
19
He promises the unexpected Jesus answered him, “Because I said to you, ‘I saw you under the fig tree,’ do you believe? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you will see heaven opened, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.” (John 1:50-51 ESV)
20
He promises the unexpected 1.What Paul saw and couldn’t speak of 2.What John saw only in a vision 3.Dwelling places with God
21
knowing this first of all, that scoffers will come in the last days with scoffing, following their own sinful desires. They will say, “Where is the promise of his coming? For ever since the fathers fell asleep, all things are continuing as they were from the beginning of creation.” (2 Peter 3:3-4 ESV)
