Call to Worship Based upon 1 Samuel 3:1-20 One:The Lord called out to Samuel and he said, “Speak. Your Servant is listening.” Many: Today we cry out like Samuel, “Speak, Lord. Your servant is listening.”
6
One:The Lord told Samuel, “I am about to do something will make the ears of all who hear it tingle.” Many: Make our ears tingle. Wake us up. Speak, for we are yours. We are yours.

I Am Thine Hymnal # 419 Used By Permission. CCLI License # 11148194
8
I am thine, O Lord, I have heard thy voice, and it told thy love to me; but I long to rise in the arms of faith and be closer drawn to thee.
9
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to the cross where thou hast died. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to thy precious, bleeding side.
10
Consecrate me now to thy service, Lord, by the power of grace divine; let my soul look up with a steadfast hope, and my will be lost in thine.
11
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to the cross where thou hast died. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to thy precious, bleeding side.
12
O the pure delight of a single hour that before thy throne I spend, when I kneel in prayer, and with thee, my God, I commune as friend with friend!
13
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to the cross where thou hast died. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to thy precious, bleeding side.
14
There are depths of love that I cannot know till I cross the narrow sea; there are heights of joy that I may not reach till I rest in peace with thee.
15
Draw me nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to the cross where thou hast died. Draw me nearer, nearer, nearer, blessed Lord, to thy precious, bleeding side.
16
Opening Prayer O Lord, We confess that unlike the song we just sang, we rarely kneel in prayer even for a minute. Unlike the song we just sang, we are so caught up in our world and our worries that we seldom commune with you as friend to friend.
17
Opening Prayer (cont) Unlike the song we just sang, we are often without joy and steadfast hope. But today, O Lord, we come with hope and faith seeking to change our ways and be changed by your Holy presence within us. Speak Lord. We are listening. Amen.

I Was There to Hear Your Borning Cry TFWS #2051 Used By Permission. CCLI License # 11148194
31
I was there to hear your borning cry, I’ll be there when you are old. I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold.
32
I was there when you were but a child, with a faith to suit you well; in a blaze of light you wandered off to find where demons dwell.
33
When you heard the wonder of the Word I was there to cheer you on; you were raised to praise the living Lord, to whom you now belong.
34
If you find someone to share your time and you join your hearts as one, I’ll be there to make your verses rhyme from dusk till rising sun.
35
In the middle ages of your life, not too old, no longer young, I’ll be there to guide you through the night, complete what I’ve begun.
36
When the evening gently closes in and you shut your weary eyes, I’ll be there as I have always been with just one more surprise.
37
I was there to hear your borning cry, I’ll be there when you are old. I rejoiced the day you were baptized, to see your life unfold.

John 1:43-45 NRSV The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Follow me.” Now Philip was from Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. Philip found Nathanael and said to him, “We have found him about whom Moses in the law and also the prophets wrote, Jesus son of Joseph from Nazareth.”
39
John 1:46-48 NRSV Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.” When Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him, he said of him, “Here is truly an Israelite in whom there is no deceit!” Nathanael asked him, “Where did you get to know me?” Jesus answered, “I saw you under the fig tree before Philip called you.”
40
John 1:49-51 NRSV Nathanael replied, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel!” Jesus answered, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than these.” And he said to him, “Very truly, I tell you, you will see heaven opened and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

He Leadeth Me Hymnal #128 Used By Permission. CCLI License # 11148194
43
He leadeth me: O blessed thought! O words with heavenly comfort fraught! Whate’er I do, where’er I be, still ‘tis God’s hand that leadeth me.
44
He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand he leadeth me; his faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.
45
Sometimes mid scenes of deepest gloom, sometimes where Eden’s bowers bloom, by waters still, o’er troubled sea, still ‘tis his hand that leadeth me.
46
He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand he leadeth me; his faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.
47
Lord, I would place my hand in thine, nor ever murmur nor repine; content whatever lot I see, since ‘tis my God that leadeth me.
48
He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand he leadeth me; his faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.
49
And when my task on earth is done, when by thy grace the victory’s won, e’en death’s cold wave I will not flee, since God through Jordan leadeth me.
50
He leadeth me, he leadeth me, by his own hand he leadeth me; his faithful follower I would be, for by his hand he leadeth me.
