1 Mrs. Marrufo’s Classroom News August 30, 2013 The school year has started off great! I hope your child is as excited about this school year as I am! Visit www.princetonisd.net to find my webpage to learn more about your student’s classroom schedule, my expectations for the school year, and more! www.princetonisd.net Science- Students will discover what scientist do and conduct investigations following safety procedures. Reading- Students will compare different versions of fables and identify story elements within texts. Writing- Students will use personal experiences to develop stories. Math- Students will develop an appropriate problem-solving plan or strategy in order to solve a problem. No school on Monday, September, 2 nd Tutoring begins Tuesday, September 2 nd from 7:30-8:10am PTO meeting on Thursday, September 5 th from 7-8pm in the library Grandparents’ Day Celebration on Monday, September 8 th

Make sure your child does their homework each day to stay in the club! Social Studies- Students will learn important symbols, customs, and celebrations that represent American beliefs and principles. Reading- Students will learn to use strategies to support understanding of text. Writing- Students will learn to use conventions of written language to communicate clearly and effectively. Math- Students will learn to solve real-life problems involving addition and subtraction. Grandparents’ Day Celebration on Monday, September 8 th Progress reports go out on September 18 th Scholastic Book orders due September 20 th (must be a check or you can order online)

Our school fundraiser has begun! Social Studies- Students will learn how historical figures influence the community, state, and nation. Reading- Students will use clues from the author and what they already know to make predictions and inferences. Writing- Students will use complete sentences for subject/verb agreement. Math- Students will use patterns in place value to compare and order whole numbers through 999. - Early release on Friday at 1:30
