7. Modeling a Figure: Sculpt a clay figure that incorporates Henry Moore ’ s unique concept of “ enclosed space ” by “ opening up ” spaces around the shapes. Begin by creating a biomorphic abstraction of the monumental figures: WARRIOR MADDONNA ODALISQUE drawn in the earlier class (biomorphism is a description of an unknown organic species that follows its own laws of growth) Consider how to stylize or simplify the curvilinear shape of the figure into basic organic forms, weighted in some areas by gravity and opening interior spaces in other areas by attaching the appendages to the torso
