Rhiannon Exercise in intervals of a 3 rd. This whole background is based off of intervals of a 3 rd.

Chords as they are played in this. Learn these chords for the following line.

This is what you do for the Am chord. Note that the fingering for the chords is between the tab and the traditional notes. For the 3 rd one you might want to do it slightly differently. I would play it on the 2 nd and 3 rd strings 5 th fret with the ring and pinky fingers. 1 (&2) (& 3 & ) 4 1 (&2) & 3 4 Counting

Count 1 (& 2 ) (& 3) 4 (& 1) (& 2 3 4 )

Adding in the bass part. Keep the bass constant. Use the thumb of the picking hand for the bass notes. Use the index and middle fingers of the picking hand for the melody notes. Take this slowly and count while you play. Count 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &

Use the thumb on the 6 th string 1 st fret. It is possible to play it with the index but much harder in the long run.

Putting it all together. This takes time, don’t hurry it. Make sure you can do the top 4 bars before doing the bass part. Then learn the bass part slowly.

Now work on it Again take your time. Do one measure at a time. There are only 4 measures. This is really good to develop independence of fingers!!!
