Dissolution: the process in which an ionic solid dissolves in a polar liquid. AgCl (s) ↔ Ag + (aq) + Cl - (aq) Precipitation: the process in which ions leave a solution and regenerate an ionic solid. Solubility equilibrium: the rate of solid dissolving is equal to the rate of solid precipitating.
3
Dissociation: the separation of ions that occurs when an ionic compound dissolves Precipitate: the solid formed when ions leave a saturated or supersaturated solution.
