The Indian Peafowl is usually found in hilly forests in India, Pakistan, Asia, and Sri Lanka. Small populations of peafowl live in Hawaii, southern California, and Florida.

A Male Peafowl (peacock)A Female Peafowl (peahen) The peacock weighs about 8 and 13 pounds, and its feather trail is almost 5 feet long. A peacock has 150 to 200 greenish feathers. At the end of each feather is a bright mark that looks like an eye. A peahen is much more dull than a peacock. Peahens have shorter feathers than peacocks. Peahens don’t have beautiful colors just white, brown, and black.

An Indian peafowl usually eats something like insects, worms, snails, frogs, snakes, grasses, and different kinds of crops.

Wild Indian Peafowl live in small groups. Peafowls are weak flyers. The Indian Peafowl can live from 20 to 24 years. Some people say the Indian Peafowl is more interesting than the Green Peafowl. Green Peafowl
